Benefit corporations are businesses that, in addition to pursuing the traditional goal of generating profits and distributing dividends, decide to integrate activities into their operations that have positive impacts on society and the environment.
The objectives pursued must be specifically indicated in the corporate purpose of the company and must be achieved through sustainable, transparent and responsible management, balancing the interests of the members and the achievement of the defined social and environmental objectives.
Any partnership or corporation, whether already existing or newly established, can be a benefit corporation; in fact, it is not a new type of company, but a qualification that can be attributed to all companies that adopt an operational and economic model that responds to the need to reconcile economic activities with sustainability and social responsibility.
