Circular economy

The circular economy is an economic system that works as a closed circle in which resources are maximally used and waste is minimized, addressing global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, waste and pollution.

It is a model of production and consumption that involves sharing, lending, reusing, repairing, reconditioning and recycling existing materials and products for as long as possible.

It is based on three principles: eliminating waste and pollution, circulating products and materials (at their maximum value) and regenerating nature. The system leverages a transition to renewable energy and materials.

The transition to a circular economy seeks to separate economic activity from the consumption of finite natural resources. This represents a systemic shift that creates long-term resilience, generates business and economic opportunities, and provides environmental and social benefits.
