Anidride carbonica

Carbon dioxide

Carbon dioxide or carbon dioxide (formula: CO₂ ) is an inert gas that at room temperature is odorless and colorless with an acidic taste, naturally present in the atmosphere in limited concentrations.

CO2 is not toxic, it is a natural atmospheric compound. CO₂ emissions are related to the combustion of fossil fuels and biomass, land use and management, as well as industrial production.

As the major greenhouse gas (GHG), CO2 critically affects the radiation balance on Earth and contributes significantly to global warming and climate change.
